Fright Night (1985) In this much-loved horror comedy, a teenager begins to suspect that his next door neighbour is a vampire, but who will believe him?

The Fly (1987) This David Cronenberg remake of the fifties B-movie features a mad scientist slowly transforming into a fly-like creature.

Cellar Dweller (1988) In this movie a werewolf-like creature plagues an artists colony, tearing innocent people to shreds.

Dracula (1993) Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola's take on Bram Stoker's novel features a lycanthropic Dracula played by Gary Oldman.

Dracula 2000 (2001) Also Called: Dracula 2001 (UK title) A modern update of the Dracula story, in which he retains the ability to change into a wolf.

Wolfhound (2002) A family move to a town where the general populace have a habit of shapeshifting into Irish wolfhounds. Aww, cute.

Matrix Reloaded, The (2003) This scifi blockbuster sequel puts forward the idea of werewolves being renegade programmes within the artificial reality of the Matrix.

Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) The fate of the annual Giant Vegetable Competition hangs in the balance as Wallace & Gromit try and hunt down some kind of superhuman veg-snatcher.

Nochnoy dozor (2005) Also Called: Night Watch In a world populated by vampires, demons and various were-folk, the Night Watch undertake the task of keeping the dark creatures under control.
