I love this movie, for a made for tv movie its actually very well done. The story is interesting, engaging and the acting was surprisingly well done for this type of film. Although there are a few unsettling/confusing errors (ie: the werewolf scratches victims and they call it "biting") the rest of the movie is pretty good. The plot and story seem to go along well, even better than some so called legitimate "werewolf" movies I've seen. I like Kevin Sorbo as the stuck up pompous tv hero. Its a different role for him.
As far as the wolf goes well what can I say. Although at times it makes me feel like im looking at a guy in a costume (cuz I am lol) for most of the movie this doesnt do anything to distract me from everything else the movie offers. Although I do not know any of the actors names except for Kevin Sorbo, they all do a good job at keeping the story interesting and fun. I also like all the werewolf knowledge that they applied into it, very good!
Although viewers may be tempted to change the channels they also have a lot of good reasons as to why they dont. All in all a great well thought out, well acted and well edited movie.

The one and only werewolf movie of all time. Sure there are lots more out there and I'm sure when you compare the editing and special effects of other modern werewolf movies the wolfman doesnt stand much chance, but this is a classic, and dont forget my dears this was filmed a time when moviegoers and movie makers and movies were way different. Back before the age of computers and blackberries, before ipods and Youtube and all the modern crap were used to.
As a movie it lacks a bit more story and the plot is just a bit thin, but given the circumstances its an okay film with an extremely talented cast. Although the movie itself doesnt dissapoint me the "woods" sort of do. Even though Universal was still young I think they could have done better for the scenery. The wolf...hmm they title is The Wolfman so please dont frown if you dont see a full fledge werewolf standing there like oh so many movies. Like I noted earlier this was a different time so the special effects are both amazing and sub-par yet still believeable and awe-inspiring (and yes I know I sort of contradicted myself).
The movie does not disappoint, as it delivers what it promises and eventhough everyone has seen it or heard the story, for someone who has yet to see it or experience it, it is a good classic film to watch. Not very scary when put next to such films as Dog Soldiers or The Company of wolves but still entertaining and chilling.
I am looking forward to the remake although I doubt Benicio del Toro does justice to Lon Chaney Jr (r.i.p)

I am proud to say that I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE this movie. I look forward to watching it every october. Altough this is a kiddy film, werewolf lovers will love all the puns and werewolf facts this movie contains.
The story follows the young chipmunks led Alvin. When a new neighbor moves in, a Mr L. Talbot (tongue in cheek) who carries a silver wolve's head walking cane *cough cough* and they hear strange "barking and howling noises" coming from next door, Alvin comes to the conclusion that the new neighbor is a werewolf, and of course no one believes him. One day while coming home late from a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde play hes rehearsing for Theodore gets ambushed and bitten by a "big mean doggie". Although Alvin is more suspicious and Simon is doing some experiments nothing seems to have changed until Theodore (normally kind hearted, shy and sweet) starts becoming mean pushy and self-centered. After the first full moon in which Theodore becomes a non-housebroken werepuppy Simon and Alvin and the Chippettes decide to take matters into their own hands before Theodore turns into a werewolf permanently.
Although this movie may seem like just another kiddy flick and it isnt as popular as "Alvin and the chipmunks meet Frankenstein", it does a pretty good job at keeping up with the Halloween fun expected from an animated film. The story is fun and interesting and full of cute and charismatic characters who light the plot and make this movie a great film for everyone to watch. TRUST ME ON THIS FOLKS you do not want to miss this movie!!! yes its a kid movie, yes its a cartoon flick, but as far they go it is one of the best I have seen in years! The werewolves do a better job in this cartoon at scaring kids then the so called werewolves from the Halloweentown franchise that Disney spat out. Accompanied by a great and humorous cast of adult, kid and chipmunk characters and a great soundtrack this is one of the best pre-teen teen werewolf movies out there.
The wolf: as far the wolf goes, he does take on an orangy tint, but the animators do a superb job at making him look like the werewolf he is. Theodore wolf is alright. he looks almost the same as he usually does with the exception of a few fangs and claws and extra hair.

What can I write that no one else has written already?
Well as far as MOVIES go this one kicks major ass. Will always be a classic. Rick Baker's special effects kill the competition and all the great acting and effort put into this movie make it one of the best werewolf movies EVER.

I DONT GIVE A FLYING PILE OF CRUD WHAT ANYONE ELSE WRITES ABOUT THIS MOVIE...this movie is great. Although not as good as its predecessor (An American werewolf in London) this movie is great on its own.
Sure the special effects are a little too-digitized and sure it couldnt be as great as the 1st but its not like this movie bores. I personally find it great and intriguing and very funny at times. There are a few things missing from the story such as HOW in hell DID Josephine become a werewolf??? (are we to believe shes Davids Naughtons daughter???) And why the heck are the werewolves just mauling the bodies instead of eating them and ripping them to shreds?
Well anyways...despite these few errors I still find this movie to be entertaining and good in its own right. I find the lack of enthusiasm from my so called fellow werewolf comrades to put this movie down in such a manner. There are worse movies out there people!!! and besides at least this movie TRIES to compete.

Although this movie is supposedly based on facts it does very little to entertain AS A MOVIE. The story is ok but the plot isnt as good. As far as werewolf movies go its ok but not great. As far a HORROR movies go its better. It may not be too scary and the attacks seem to fast and too gory but a little too realistic to just put this movie down completely. If more effort had been put into the plot and into how the werewolf looked (AND in the acting) this movie would have done A HELL OF LOT BETTER.

As a proud Mexican woman I am super proud to say that I consider this a great classic....as a werewolf fan uhm I gotta say: its sort of ok.
If you were to be put into the childrens position you would find the monsters scary...as a regular person not so much!
The movie follows pepito and Chabelo (whos a huge tv show host in Mexico who plays a young child though clearly hes not) and their scout troop on a trip into the forest where they encounter monsters such as Dracula and THE WOLFMAN and its up to them to save the day
The wolf: They pretty much almost carbon copied Lon Chaney Jrs character in the Wolf Man which kinda stinks a little since you would think that werewolves like humans look different. But who knows what they were thinking right?

As a very young child in Mexico I was shown this movie by my abuelita (grandmother) and so started my werewolf obsession....Seriously!
This movie is one of the best and one of the scariest werewolf movies out there. I love all the deliciousness of this movie. The way every story seems to enthrall and scare the viewer. The special effects for the wolves and the morphs are extremely well done and the music and the all together atmosphere set this whole movie to be one BIG BAD thriller!!!

I'm afraid I have mixed feelings about this film. Although I find it THE scariest werewolf movie of all time, as it does what the shark did in Jaws to this movie (what you cant see is what scares you the most) but im afraid the accents can be so thick that for 70% of the movie I have no clue whats going on. Visually this movie is a masterpiece as it delivers great werewolf action and gore alike and the story pulls you in, but like I said, unless you can decipher the THICK british accents that the actors spew youre not going to understand the movie too much.
The Wolves: I am visually stunned by these werewolves. although they look a little hairless in the chest area, the realism of the makeup effects make you believe this movie. Superb!!!

I have this movie along with The Wolf Man and a few other werewolf movies of the golden age of Universal Monsters. I must say this movie is not as good as the Wolf Man but its nice to see sequels that mix monsters together. The movie as a movie is ok. not too boring not too entertaining. Nuff said.

One of the most ridiculous most annoying films of all time (Gene Wilder had to miss a hit--he was due) and the werewolf? P.U PEW!!!
A guy in a suit and mask--even the one at the end...horrible!!!
Not a good movie to watch, too much schtick and too much confusion, the plot is choppy and the story is boring.

Another classic which I am proud to be the owner of.
Although I think that the main character's hair looks to poofy and old-ladyish and seems to distract me a bit from the film, I must say that this is one of THE BEST werewolf movies out there. I like the mystery and the sadness in the story as you share Karens point of view throughout the film and feel what she does as she becomes aware of whats going on around her. Like I said, Im not particular to Karens style of clothing and hair-do because I get stuck and cannot seem to focus on anything else and I hope that this problem doesnt happen to anyone else since it makes it a little hard to enjoy the movie. As far as the story goes its a good story and the plot mixes ok with it. Although the movie itself isnt that scary, the scenario sure is. Also I hope im not giving away anything but all the puns, tongue in cheek and inside jokes and gags are enough to thrill any werewolf fanatic. all in all a good classic.
The wolves: Although the wolves could have been better, the budget was low but they still managed to come up with tall scary characters who make the movie great.

A great werewolf movie in spanish about two werewolves who fall in love.
A young attractive woman cursed to live as a lycanthrope falls in love with the doctor she sees (in order to get cured) who is also a werewolf. Unfortunately for both, their love filled killing spree comes to an end when theyre done in by a trained, werewolf killing dog.
The way this movie was made reminds me of the Wolf Man as it has a lot visual similarities, but the story plot and some special effects make it hard to take this movie seriously. The way this movie was made was very typical during those times before high tech devices, unfortunately that rendered scenes that look phony. for example some "night time" scenes were filmed in the day time and shaded during editing to look like nights of the full moon but instead look too sunny and therefore make the movie less credible.
The wolves: as far as La Loba (the she wolf) goes, the costume is very intricate but phony looking. its a bit scary but overly hairy (haha that rhymes) and so proves to be a bit too dramatic. The werewolf (doctor) looks a bit more phony as the werewolf mask he wears looks too fairy-taleish. not really great specail effects but still ok for a movie from that era.
One of the few werewolf movies I saw when I was younger so Im giving it a higher rating due to the nostalgic value it holds for me
