t's unfortunate that this was the first and one of the only episodes I saw when "Big Wolf" was originally aired, as it really put me off the series. The swamp thing episode represents almost everything I don't like about the series -- when it gets too wacky for it's own good. There's some still stuff to enjoy, sure, but I'd just as soon avoid the episode as watch it.
Anyway, Hugo is getting married to a female teacher at the school, while Stacey and some other students embark on an operation to clear up the local swamp. However, while there they awaken a swamp thing, who returns to the school and kidnaps Stacey after she slips up on his slime. But as it turns out he was actually there because before he went all swampy he was engaged to the previously mentioned female teacher, and wants to rekindle their romance. Bleurgh. And yeah, that's the only plot. Well, there's the kind of "will they, won't they" romance between Tommy and Stacey, but there's not really much progression in their relationship. Meh.
The movie reference here is "Return of the Swamp Thing" with Heather Locklear, which was pretty hideous itself. What can you say about it? The hippie swamp thing is annoying, the whole marriage plot is dull and not funny, the wrestling sequence is silly and childish ... the bad things simply outweigh the good in this case. Also, in the opening scene then Brandon Quinn's acting at bad acting is much worse than his usual acting. Does that make sense? No, it doesn't. But never mind. Who's going to read this anyway? Blop blop bloo! Ahem. Anyway, this isn't a very good episode. You can probably give it a miss unless you're a big fan.
