"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 19 : A Grimm Situation"
Sunday 25th May, 2014
Following the period of resurgence which brought forth the likes of "Ginger Snaps" and "Dog Soldiers", werewolf movies had entered something of a stagnant period by the time 2005 rolled around, with only a few mixed low-budget efforts and some rather disappointing studio releases.
Sunday 11th May, 2014
You may have noticed there is no new "100 Years" episode this weekend. Instead we have a special treat in the form of an early review for the new "no-budget" British werewolf movie Torn: A Shock Youmentary, which is well worth checking out.
"Project: Metalbeast and Supernatural"
Wednesday 7th May, 2014
The backdoor pilot for the new Supernatural spin-off called "Bloodlines" aired last week, and I have written a brief review. Also a review of the surprisingly fun nineties B-movie called Project: Metalbeast.
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 18 : Underwolves"
Friday 2nd May, 2014
The accidental theme of this weeks episode is CG werewolves, which is always a controversial subject among werewolf movie fans who tend to favour good old-fashioned physical effects.
Here we see a number of interesting examples from both ends of the spectrum. The "Van Helsing" werewolves, which cost a hefty amount of money, are contrasted against the laughable low-budget efforts of "DarkWolf."
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 17 : A Girl Called Ginger"
Friday 25th April, 2014
The dawn of the 21st century was a great time for werewolf fans with a number of fantastic movies being produced in a short period of time. For example, this episode alone includes the "Ginger Snaps" trilogy, "Dog Soldiers" and "Le Pacte Des Loups."
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 16 : Bad Moon Rising"
Friday 18th April, 2014
Back again after the two week absence! This week we polish off the rest of the nineties before we start covering the werewolves of the 21st century in our next episode.
A review of Project: Metalbeast (1996) is forthcoming soon.
"Spirit of the Night"
Tuesday 1st April, 2014
I am away on vacation for the next week, so no new "100 Years" episode. However, I have written a review of the godawful Huntress: Spirit of the Night (1991) - which actually turned out to be a were-panther movie. As such it has been moved over to the "See Also" section of the website.
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 15 : Wolf Man Jack"
Friday 28th March, 2014
Moving into the 90s now, which produced some interesting werewolf movies though very few which were actually any good. This episode features one of the best in "Wolf".
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 14 : Your Mom's A Werewolf"
Friday 21st March, 2014
The comedic leanings of "American Werewolf" appear to have had an impact in the 1980s, since this period is full of some hilarious werewolf comedies. And some hilariously bad werewolf horrors, too.
"My Mom's A Werewolf!"
Friday 14th March, 2014
There will be no new "100 Years" episode this week due to other commitments, but fear not! There's a brand new review of werewolf comedy My Mom's A Werewolf (1989) just for you.
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 13 : In Good Company"
Friday 7th March, 2014
Continuing through the "golden age" of werewolf movies in the early-to-mid 1980s, this episode sees some more lycanthropic flicks which are fondly remembered even today.
There are also new reviews of Leviatan (1984), La Croce Dalle Sette Pietre (1987) and I have also re-visited my review of Stephen King's Silver Bullet (1985) after re-watching it for this episode. I'm still not a fan of that particular movie, though I did feel a bit more kindly towards it this time.
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 12 : An American Werewolf"
Sunday 2nd March, 2014
This one is a bit delayed due to some uploading issues, but perhaps new reviews of The Monster Club (1980) (not featured in the episode due to having very little werewolf content), Full Moon High (1981) and Cazador de Demonios (1983) will make up for that.
A review of Alice Cooper's Leviatan (1984) is also forthcoming.
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 11 : The Howling Saga"
Saturday 22nd February, 2014
So this one arrives a day late, but to make up for that it is at least a special extended episode taking us through the whole Howling saga, from the original movie and through the other seven which claim, for some reason, to be part of the same series.
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 10 : Legends of the Werewolf"
Friday 14th February, 2014
What better way to spend Valentine's Day than to watch a bunch of clips from 1970s werewolf movies? There's plenty of romance to be found here in this episode of course, whether it's an Argentinian lad named Nazareno Cruz whose love causes him to become a wolf, or a vacation romance in Hawaii tainted only by a little bit of murderous lycanthropy.
There are also brand new reviews for Scream of the Wolf (1974), Werewolf of Woodstock (1975), La Lupa Mannara (1976), Nazareno Cruz y el Lobo (1976) and Death Moon (1978). The 1970s section of the site is looking a lot more filled out now!
"100 Years of Werewolf Movies Part 9 : These Beasts Must Die!"
Friday 7th February, 2014
From the strange to the sublime, the early seventies were certainly not a dull period for werewolf movies, as we discover in this episode of our ongoing series.
"The Boy Who Cried Supernatural!"
Thursday 6th February, 2014
Our latest classic werewolf movie review is for the 1973 horror film The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, which turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise. Last week's episode of Supernatural also featured the return of werewolves after a seven-year absence from the show, so I have uploaded a review of that episode.
"I, Frankenstein and Some New Reviews"
Saturday 1st February, 2014
I, Frankenstein has now been released across a number of countries and so it has been added to our main database. If you have seen the movie please feel free to submit a review of it.
In preparation for our next "100 Years of Werewolf Movies" episode, there are also a few new reviews for movies from the 70s, including Werewolves on Wheels (1971), The Rats are Coming! The Werewolves are Here! (1972) (sort of) and Santo Contra las Lobas (1972).
