So if you are a newcomer to the genre, before you get started on all the bad werewolf movies you need to know what the classics are. That's why I've come up with this abbreviated list of twenty titles, spread across four eras, that I believe any self-respecting werewolf fan should have in their collection. It also attempts to tell a 'history' of the genre - showing how our perception and interpretation of werewolves has changed over time. This list by no means includes all the werewolf movies that are worth seeing - especially if you're a completist or a big fan of the genre - but these essentials will at least get you started well on the road to being a major werewolf movie nerd.
